the hutchins

In the 18th century the Hutchins family lived in Blackrock House. It was purchased by Richard White (Councillor White) in 1765, renamed into Seafield and later became Bantry House. The Hutchins moved to Ballylickey, and after a family feud in 1813 Arthur Hutchins moved to Ardnagashel.

Their sister was to become famous in the world of botany: Ellen Hutchins (1785-1815), read about her short yet productive life here.
